Welcome to Saving Our Heritage where From Slave to Soldier to Medal of Honor and our next five television documentaries will explore the American Civil War through the black perspective.

MISSION

Saving Our Heritage’s purpose is to preserve the legacy of America by telling the untold story of the many courageous black Americans who helped save America and who contributed so mightily to this great country of ours.

The mission of Saving Our Heritage is to inspire all Americans and people the world over to learn more about brave true-to-life black Americans.

Saving Our Heritage is unique in that it may well be the only black organization in the country whose mission is to produce historical black documentary for distribution to schools, churches, community centers, libraries, PBS stations, and museums.

Goals

  1. With the help of funds from private, corporate and foundation donations, Saving Our Heritage documentaries will be produced and made available to millions of people through universities, libraries, community centers, churches, schools K-12, television networks and media outlets such PBS, cable, satellite, and the World Wide Web
  2. To create a lasting legacy focused on increasing the public’s understanding and awareness of black American’s outstanding role in helping save the Union and eliminating American slavery
  3. To make black contribution to America relevant to all ethnicities as part of a discussion on living history and equal rights for all citizens
  4. To involve the widest conceivable audience and participation of citizens, private businesses, corporations, and foundations throughout the United States and abroad
  5. To broadly publicize all work using public forums with active links to groups and individuals who are especially interested in black history in the United States and the Civil War in particular
  6. To provide impetus and opportunity for the creation and preservation of historically important black documents, artifacts, photographs, related personal interviews, and activities that will yield commensurate respect and veneration regarding black legacy and foster a greater sense of community and individual pride
