About SOH
Saving Our Heritage is an organization dedicated to raising national awareness of the proud history and tremendous contributions of black Americans to America.
Saving Our Heritage was initially created to produce serious, thought-provoking and in-depth television documentaries of noteworthy black Americans who have contributed tremendously to the betterment of America. Saving Our Heritage records and interviews historians, living relatives to deceased subjects, re-enactments, newspaper clippings, artifacts, drawings, memorabilia, old photographs, maps and documents to preserve the life and times of these noteworthy black Americans.
Individuals have contributed and served as researchers, advisors, writers, historians, technicians, and production consultant to a wide spectrum of black Civil War re-enactors heroes ranging from Frederick Douglass to Sojourner Truth. We have the experience, personnel and resources to handle the most challenging production issues facing content providers today.
We attract and retain exceptional people by building and maintaining a stimulating and diverse environment. We pride ourselves on our ability to deliver extraordinary services through a partnership dedicated to the principles of professionalism, teamwork and cooperation.
Initially, our first two-hour television documentary will be distributed, primarily, by PBS, which, in turn, is distributed to virtually every school in the nation.
Over the next six years, Saving Our Heritage will explore the American Civil War from John Brown’s raid at Harper’s Ferry to the post-war period of Reconstruction. The material will include interviews with many descendants of Civil War veterans on both sides of the war.
